Gautam completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Honours) from the University of Sydney in 1999 followed by a number of other formal programs in Australia and overseas. After two decades of clinical practise, he has returned to formal study in Law as a hobby. Gautam holds multiple Fellowships, including examinable and honorary ones and has held teaching roles across a number of institutions, starting with the title of Associate Lecturer with the University of Sydney in 2000.
Gautam is an Expert Reviewer for the Health Care Complaints Commission as well an educator for AHPRA. He has had roles as a Supervisor and Mentor for a number of dental regulatory bodies in Australia. He is engaged as an Independent Dental Advisor by a number of plaintiff and defendant legal teams and is a current Expert Advisor for professional indemnity insurers.
Gautam has served on the executive of the Australian Dental Association (NSW) and a number of other dental societies including as President of the Australian Prosthodontic Society (NSW).
Gautamā€™s clinical interests lie within the field of dental implants whilst his ancillary interests revolve around procedural fairness and transparency of regulatory action.
